Absences:
If your child or children are or will be absent, please call the main office and leave a message on the attendance line at 973-509-5900. Include the reason for the absence and the estimated time that your child (children) will be absent.

Health Status Changes:
Please let the nurse's office know if there have been any changes in your child's health status and if medications have been added or discontinued.

Medications:
Medications may not be given in school without permission from the child's doctor and the parents/guardians. This applies to both prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Peanut Policy:
All classrooms at Watchung School are peanut-free. During lunch, peanut products are allowed. A peanut-free table is provided for students with nut allergies. All students who eat at this table bring nut-free lunches.

Physical Exams are required for all new Kindergarten students and for those students who are transferring to Watchung School from another school district. Physicals are recommended for students entering 6th grade.

Screenings:
Students are screened for height, weight, vision, and hearing according NJ Department of Education guidelines as follows:

Vision: Grades K, 2, and 4
Hearing: Grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 4
Height/Weight: Grades K-5
Scoliosis: Grade 5

Parents are notified about any abnormalities.

Student injuries such as fractures, stitches, etc. must be reported to the school so that accommodations can be made if necessary.
